Lightning bugs, all in a jar
Lovely lights winking on, winking out
As days pass by lazily
There are fewer lights
Consumed one after another
By the darkness
Until only one remains
It chews through the glass
And flies away to the woods
What do you know?
Survival of the fittest after all!
The rarest and purest proof
Without room for error or dispute
Just don't get in my way
We both know I can
Chew through the glass
And you can't.
